WiFi connection

I can't connect to WiFi

First, set up your WiFi password. The WiFi password is different from your unified password. Then, configure your device following the instructions on the website wifi.vsb.cz. Use the automatic configurator, which will help you easily set up the network profile. If the installation fails, there are also guides for manual configuration. Log in using your personal number in the format personalnumber@vsb.cz (e.g., abc1234@vsb.cz) and your WiFi password.

If your WiFi connection used to work and you can no longer connect, your access might have been blocked for some reason (e.g., suspicious device behavior on the network). Check your university email for any notification regarding this issue.

How can guests (short-term visitors) or external conference participants connect to WiFi?

Individual visitors connect to the TUONET-GUEST network. VŠB-TUO employees can request temporary access in advance via the Helpdesk or by contacting the faculty administrators.
Users from institutions participating in the eduroam project can log in to the EDUROAM network using their institution's login credentials.

Which organizations offer access to the EDUROAM WiFi network?

Organizations participating in the eduroam project are listed in the Coverage Map on the website https://www.eduroam.cz.

Why is connecting to the TUONET-SIMPLE network not safe?

While authentication into the TUONET-SIMPLE network is protected from eavesdropping (between your device and the network access authorization element), other communication (e.g., chatting, sending, and receiving emails) is not encrypted. This means it could be intercepted and exploited by third parties. Therefore, we recommend connecting to the secure eduroam wireless network.

Internet Connection in Dormitories

My wired connection in the dorms is not working

First, check whether your network profile is set up according to the instructions for Connecting to the TUONET Network in Dormitory Buildings, and also verify the validity of your WiFi password. The LED light on your network card should be on. If issues persist, replace your UTP network cable with another one (which has been verified to work), and also check your university email to ensure that your network access hasn't been blocked.

Can I connect my WiFi router in the dorms?

Connecting a WiFi router to the dormitory socket is not permitted.

Can I connect to the internet at the VŠB-TUO hotel?

Guests in the hotel rooms at the dormitories are provided with internet access.
