For building A, this procedure will be valid from 6th of February 2017, for buildings C, D, E from 6th of March 2017.

Connecting to the metallic (wired) network at the dormitory building B is realized in a similar manner as in the wireless network.

  • requires no previous registration of the MAC address of the device in NetIS system
  • you can connect to any outlet anywhere in the student dormitories B
  • you can connect multiple devices simultaneously, if you have the room available to multiple outlets
  • number of alternately connected devices is not limited
  • you can connect with your eduroam identity even if you are not a student or employee of VSB

Unless your LAN adapter is configured correctly:

I.e. you enter the wrong name or password or if the authentication doesn't work for any other reason, after 20 seconds your device will switch to a network with limited access - only selected university websites:

  • idoc.vsb.cz (these manuals)
  • uzivatel.vsb.cz (change, set password e.g.)
  • helpdesk.vsb.cz (the way how to let us know that you have some problem with the internet connection)

If the adapter is set up correctly according to the instructions below for the fastest testing disconnect and reconnect the cable. Then new authentication attempt will enforce.

Instructions for configuring:

Authentication is implemented using 802.1x protocol framework, the authentication is based on protocol EAP-PEAP + MSCHAPv2. To establish a connection it is now required that your Operating System supports 802.1x and EAP-PEAP + MSCHAPv2 on your wired network card.
Simplifying configuration for a wired connection option is not to verify the certificates for RADIUS servers.
