MAC address on Mac OS X

This guide is used to determine MAC address of your computer connected to University network TUONET. IP address with the MAC address uniquely identify your computer and one of these addresses is usually required by technician in dealing with requests or incidents.

  1. Click on magnifier icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

  2. When the searching line shows type word Terminal. Run the application by clicking on the name.

  3. Type command ifconfig en0 Information about wire network can be obtained from following list:
     (MAC address is set of letters A to F and numbers 0 to 9)
     If you have installed multiple network cards in your computer (WiFi, thunderbold, USB/Ethernet adapter etc.), "wired" connection can be marked other than en0 (eg. en1, en2, etc.).
